Pew News is a YouTube series hosted by Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg, usually in the guise of a fictional persona, in which he reports on and analyzes major YouTube and internet-related stories of the previous week. Launched in February 2018, the series spawned several in-jokes in the PewDiePie fan community, with many memes referencing PewDiePie's show personas Gloria Borger, Poppy Gloria and Mary Ham.

History

On February 3rd, 2018, YouTuber PewDiePie posted a video titled "LOGAN PAUL RETURNS πŸ“° PEW NEWSπŸ“°" (shown below, left), launching a new video series titled Pew News.[1] In the series, PewDiePie, usually in a guise of a fictional host, reports and opinionates on major YouTube and internet-related stories and trends of the previous week.

As of May 27th, 2019, a total of 49 episodes of the series had been made, with PewDiePie covering such topics as Tanacon, PewDiePie vs. T-Series, Jake Paul & Ricegum Gambling Controversy, ProJared Cheating Scandal, James Charles and Tati Westbrook Feud and other internet scandals.[2]

Gloria Borger / Poppy Gloria / Mary Katherine Ham

Gloria Borger, Poppy Gloria and Mary Ham refer to show personas of PewDiePie who host episodes of the Pew News. The characters and their relationships between each other became a popular subject of memes in the PewDiePie fan community.

On May 19th, 2019, Pew News episode "James RESPONDS, Tati RESPONDS, Projared RESPONDS" premiered.[3] In the episode, the new host Mary Ham was introduced, while the previous host persona Poppy Gloria was reported to have been fired. In May 27th, 2019 episode "KSI is Canceled" it was revealed Poppy Gloria had passed away, with Mary Ham being the killer being heavily implied.[4] This prompted multiple memes about the characters, primarily in /r/PewdiepieSubmissions subreddit, including posts expressing strong dislike for Mary Ham and demands to resurrect Poppy Gloria (examples shown below).

"I'm Not Supposed to Give My Opinion" refers to a catchphrase often said by fictional hosts of Pew News during the episodes, particularly by Gloria Borger and Poppy Gloria. The catchphrase is usually followed by PewDiePie's personal opinion on the discussed matter.
