About
MapleStory (Korean: 메이플스토리) is a free, 2D, massive multiplayer online RPG (role-playing game) made by the South Korean company Wizet. Several versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions, and each is published by various companies such as Nexon.
MMVs
People in this game used to create MMV's also known as Maple Music Videos, where Characters would type the words or lyrics to a song, and add it with music using an editing program. Others made their own free characters that could be made in this game, can also be now made in a program called BannedStory, created in 2006. There are other programs used in creating MMV's. Such as Sony Vegas, Flash, and Windows Movie Maker. The Backgrounds can be found on various sites, including BannedStory, which has recently made a widget for backgrounds.
Game Play
In the beginning you create a character. Then you either attack monsters and complete quests until you reach level 10 (8 for Mages) on the (Noob) Island. After that you can interact with other players and go onto quests. You may also buy NX, the second currency of the Maple World. The first Currency is Mesos, which monsters drop, or you may gain from quests that you can complete.
At level 30 you have a Job Advance, gaining more skills and powers. You also have a Job Advance at level 70, and 120. You may also get Mobs, which you can ride, such as Pigs for Adventures. However you need about 5 million mesos to buy the items required and more mesos to progress in the game.
You may also go into the FM (Free Market). Where people buy and sell objects for profits. The whole game mostly revolves around mesos and the gameplay. However people do not always play for the levels, they may also play for the bonds made with others.
Party Quests
(PQ)
A Party quest is when you make a group filled with 3-6 players to do an objective and in the end earn a prize and Experience (EXP). There are many different PQ's with different level ranges. Nexon had created a portal that can teleport the player to the map where people begin making teams. Some may require thinking, teamwork, or math. Others may require a certain level and skills.
