About
Lovely Lady RPG is an indie RPG video game created by Mia Cain (@MiaCain2001 on X / Twitter), which follows "Ghost," a woman who has forgotten her real name, as she wakes up to a hole in her ceiling and a "cosmic space orb" embedded in her chest. She then wanders the world of the game unsure of who she is, interacting with various characters. The game has been compared to Disco Elysium in terms of its in-game dialogue option graphics, and has been described as having sapphic undertones. The game was released in early September 2024 and gained a fan following over the course of the following weeks, while some people disparaged the game's writing, calling it "Reddit" and juvenile, among other criticisms.
History
Mia Cain announced the release of Lovely Lady RPG alongside the Itch.io link[2] to buy the game on X / Twitter[1] and Tumblr[3] on September 7th, 2024, gathering over 700 notes in two weeks. The game follows a transgender anthropomorphic mouse-woman in a settling akin to 1930s Britain.
The official description of the game reads as follows:
Ok listen up. Lovely Lady RPG is a game about wandering around and just sort of seeing what happens. After waking up with a hole in her ceiling, a cosmic space Orb embedded in her chest and no recollection of basically anything, Ghost sets out to continue her life as best she can.
The YouTube[10] channel DEASTES Music posted music from the game on September 15th, 2024, gathering over 100 views in a week.

On September 21st, 2024, X[5] user @neuroshmancer posted another set of dialogue from the game, this time showing the protagonist approaching a tall woman and being given the option to kiss her or choose the "evil route" by not kissing her. The post gathered over 61,000 likes in two days.

On September 23rd, 2024, X[6] user @bobo_circus quoted a tweet about the game, writing, "making a game for annoying gay people with that exact disco elysium sidebar is really nasty work" (shown below), while X[7] user @guydebordgyatt wrote, "disco elysium if instead of having the best writing anything ever had it had the worst writing anything ever had," gathering over 20,000 and 8,000 likes, respectively, in roughly a day.
On September 22nd, X[8] user @heL3FThegel called the game "Reddit Elysium," gathering over 13,000 likes in two days.
