About

LeBron Hennessy, also known as LeHenny or LeBrenny, refers to a 2024 limited-edition cognac bottle made by French producer Hennessy in collaboration with NBA player LeBron James. LeBron Hennessy was released in late September 2024 but generated significant viral discourse and memes in October of that year. Notable influencers like Twitch streamer Kai Cenat reviewed LeBron Hennessy and joked about it after its release.

History

On September 26th, 2024, Hennessy[1] unveiled the "Hennessy Limited Editions by LeBron James," which was set to release in stores on September 30th.[2] The cognac was labeled with James' likeness. LeBron James said in the company's press release, "As an admirer of Hennessy and its iconic brand, I’ve always appreciated its commitment to basketball and how it celebrates the sport’s influence on and off the court."

Online Presence

The news of LeBron's Hennessy was spread in viral posts on Twitter / X[3] and elsewhere in late September 2024. Memes arose during the same timeframe, like a tweet[4] shared by the NBA parody account @TheNBACentel on September 28th, which joked about Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green buying every bottle of LeBron Hennessy, gaining over 5,100 likes in 16 days (shown below).

On October 6th, clips of streamer Kai Cenat trying LeBron Hennessy and joking about it spread online, like one clip shared by TikToker[5] @clipsfye on the day, receiving over 211,600 plays and 11,200 likes in six days (shown below).

On October 12th, 2024, the parody X[6] account @TheNBACentel followed up on its original Draymond Green post, showing a fake Instagram Story posted by Green with text reading, "Ending my day with the KING inside me!" The post notably joked about LeBron Glazing. Over two days, the post received roughly 195,000 likes (shown below).

Also on October 12th, TikToker[6] @wockkingdaggerr posted a video of himself trying the LeBron Hennessy, calling it "LeBrenny." The video had text reading, "How the Lebronnessy got me feelin," and showed the TikToker recreating the 'First Day Out' by Tee Grizzley video. Over two days, the TikTok received roughly 3.2 million plays and 811,900 likes (shown below).
