About

KFC Crocs is a shoe collaboration between the fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken and Crocs resembling a KFC bucket of chicken. The crocs are to be released in Spring 2020.

History

On February 12th, 2020, @Crocs tweeted a promotional video for their collaboration with KFC (shown below). The Crocs^[1] website announced that "Each pair of co-branded footwear comes with two Jibbitz™ charms made to resemble and smell like fried chicken."

That same day, @kfc^[2] tweeted, "Was getting tired of my @crocs not being on the cover of PAPER Magazine. Yes, they are real. Coming Spring 2020 KFC x Crocs" (shown below). The tweet included a cover of Paper Magazine with a model wearing platform versions of the shoes.

Reception

On February 12th, 2020, following the announcement on Twitter, Redditor uhhsamurai posted an image of the KFC crocs to r/ATBGE^[3] and garnered over 140 points (95% upvoted) in a day. That same day, Twitter user @JeffMichaelNews^[4] tweeted, "Okay we've heard crocodile tastes like chicken… but really? And, yes, they're making these! My dog can hardly wait. #KFCCrocs #crocs" (shown below, left). Publications like The Wall Street Journal tweeted about the collaboration. The @WSJ^[5] received over 480 likes in a day for their KFC crocs tweet (shown below, right).
