Heaven Official's Blessing (天官赐福, Tiān Guān Cì Fú) is a Chinese web novel and animated show written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. In October 2022, the web novel was released as a donghua, or Chinese animated show, on Funimation and on Netflix in April 2021. The show follows the story of Xie Lian, a disgraced former heavenly king, and Hua Cheng, a demon king, as they navigate the world and their relationship.

History

Heaven Official's Blessing was first published in 2017 on Jinjiang Literature City, a popular Chinese website for publishing and serializing online fiction.^[1] It was then picked up as an animated donghua show by Bilibili and Funimation On October 31st, 2020 and on April 9th 2021 on Netflix. A trailer for the show's first season can be accessed via upload to YouTube where it gathered over 800,000 views in two years (seen below).^[2]

Reception

The show received favorable reviews, with Comic Book Resources and various IMDb users giving it positive ratings. ^[3] ^[4]

The subreddit /r/tianguancifu^[5] was made on December 11th, 2019, and is dedicated to discussions about Heaven Official's Blessing. The subreddit has over 20,000 readers. The most upvoted post in the subreddit was posted by DreamyFog89 on November 20th, 2021, and contained a trailer for the second season of the animated show.
