Goat Simulator is a third-person perspective video game in which the player roams an open world assuming the role of a wild goat.
History
Pre-Release
On February 3rd, 2014, Coffee Stain Studios released a video featuring alpha gameplay footage of the video game (shown below). On February 11th, pre-orders were made available on the Goat-Simulator[1] website. The same day, CoffeeStainStudios released a pre-order trailer for the game (shown below, right). The video was subsequently submitted to the /r/gaming[2] subreddit where it received upwards of 14,000 up votes and 1,400 comments in the following month.
On March 26th, the official launch trailer for the game was released on YouTube, which parodied the trailer for the 2011 survival horror game Dead Island[3] depicting the goat crashing through the building and being thrown into the air by an exploding gas station (shown below).
MMO Patch
On November 17th, 2014, Coffee Stain Studios announced patch 1.2 for Goat Simulator would be released later in the week on Nov 20th. According to the Steam page[6], the focus of the patch is the addition of online multiplayer capabilities to the game as a free DLC.
As part of the announcements, Coffee Stain Studios uploaded a trailer for the patch to their YouTube channel later that day.[4]
