Frozen 2 is an American computer-generated animated film produced by Disney and the official sequel to the 2013 film Frozen. The film features a returning voice cast of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff.

History

March 12th, 2015, Disney announced the sequel to Frozen_. In a statement,[1] then-chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios John Lasseter said, "We enjoyed making ‘Frozen Fever’ so much and being back in that world with those characters. [_Frozen directors] Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that."

On February 13th, 2019, Disney released a teaser trailer for the film. Within two days, the video has received more than 17 million views on YouTube (shown below, left).[2]

That day, a teaser poster for the film was also released (shown below, right).


Reception

Trailer Reaction

On February 13th, Disney tweeted [3] the trailer to the film, receiving more than 100,000 retweets, 225,000 likes and 17 million views in two days (shown below, left). On Reddit, [10] a post in the /r/movies subreddit by robomechabotatron received more than 32,000 points (69% upvoted) and 6,500 comments in two days.

People, by and large, reacted positively to the trailer. Twitter[4] user @reux_88 replied to the tweet with a screenshot from the 1995 film Billy Madison. The post received more than 2,100 retweets and 15,000 likes in two days (shown below, center). Twitter[5] user @emiliaheards tweeted a series of screenshots from the trailer with the caption, "THIS LOOKS SO STUNNING." The tweet received more than 3,700 retweets and 10,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).



Others speculated on the new characters introduced in the trailer, particularly the one voiced by Evan Rachel Wood. Twitter user @st4rrdust tweeted "Who is SHE?" and Frozen star Kristen Bell responded,[6] "Hmmmm….." The retweet received more than 3,500 retweets and 25,000 likes in two days (shown below).

Twitter published numerous Moments and Events pages about the trailer.[7][8][9]
