Discord Water refers to a rumored upcoming bottled water product sold by the messaging app Discord. The company posted a promo photo of a Discord water bottle to Twitter / X in early October 2024, sparking memes and discourse about the prospect of it. The bottle originally appeared with blue Japanese text translating to "Natural Water" and a yellow sticker reading, "CLEAN," in all caps. Jokes and memes about Discord Water speculated that the product would be undrinkable or would negatively alter the consumer's body.

History

On October 8th, 2024, Discord posted a tweet^[1] that read, "discord water," captioning an image of a Discord-branded water bottle with blue Japanese text that translates to "Natural Water" and a yellow sticker reading, "CLEAN," in all caps. The tweet received over 12,000 likes in a day (shown below).

Discord did not post an official announcement about the supposed water bottle product on its blog nor did it share the image on its other social media accounts.

Online Presence

On October 8th, 2024, viral posts about Discord Water surfaced after the tweet. For instance, on October 8th, X^[2] user @rad_dude124 quoted Discord's post, attaching the video of The Engineer from Prometheus drinking a liquid and then collapsing, gaining over 121,000 likes in a day (shown below).

Also on October 8th, X^[3] user @ferretdot quoted the post, attaching the U R Not a Vibe Bro image captioned, "the random japanese text," amassing over 27,000 likes in a day (shown below).
