History

Cum Town began in May of 2016, a project by Mullen and Halkias. Friedland joined in later episodes.[1] The Patreon for the podcast, which currently has over 20,000 sponsors, started in September of 2016.[2] The show has a dedicated fanbase, selling fan-made merchandise such as this sticker of the hosts (seen below) available on redbubble.com for $1.39.[5]

The show is frequently associated with the "dirtbag left," and grouped together with and compared to other irreverent and controversial leftist podcasts like Red Scare and Chapo Trap House. The show's listeners and overall vibe has a definite reputation, as depicted in the meme seen below, which was posted to Reddit's /r/starterpacks on November 6, 2020, receiving 185 upvotes.[6]

Most episodes feature the hosts riffing for about an hour, with no structure, advertisements or theme song.

Online Presence

Cum Town releases two episodes a week, one for free and one for paid subscribers.

The Cum Town subreddit, /r/CumTown, was removed in June of 2020 along with almost 2,000 other communities for violating Reddit's new policies on hate speech.[4]

A popular meme format of a selfie taken by host Adam Friedland was widely circulated online in 2020, remixed, recaptioned and edited to fit into several different humorous contexts.
