The Csnoobs Harry Potter Spitfire Wand is a replica wand based on the Harry Potter series that "shoots fireballs" by igniting small pieces of paper and ejecting them from the tip of the wand. The wand was first released in November 2021 and became popular on TikTok in 2022. That August, YouTuber David Dobrik posted a video to Snapchat where he accidentally sets his assistant's hair on fire using what appears to be the Csnoobs wand.

History

There are several videos showcasing wands that shoot "fire paper" prior to Csnoobs' device. For example, on December 20th, 2014, YouTuber^[1] NanoRobotGeek posted a video describing how to make a fireball shooting wand using what appears to be the same method, garnering over 11,000 views in eight years (shown below).

Csnoobs Harry Potter Wand

On November 30th, 2021, YouTuber^[2] Csnoobs, who runs the online shop csnoobs.com, which mainly sells realistic toy guns, posted a video showcasing titled, "Harry Potter wand can launch fireballs," showcasing the Csnoobs spitfire wand. In the video, a man dressed as Harry Potter shoots several fireballs out of the wand (shown below). The video gained over 55,000 views in nine months.

The video's description provides a link to the Csnoobs website^[3] where you can purchase the wand. The wand is available in several models based characters' wands from the film series, including Hermione, Voldemort, Snape, Dumbledore and Harry. Additional fire paper is also sold on the page.

In the months following the wand's release, the product became popular on TikTok, including in what appear to be sponsored advertisements. On July 6th, 2022, TikToker^[4] @harrypoterwand, an account dedicated to advertising the wands, posted its first video. On August 5th, the account posted a video using the wand to shoot a fireball at a balloon, garnering over 4 million views in two weeks (shown below, left). On August 13th, TikToker^[5] @karunasatoriasmr posted a video firing the wand outside, garnering over 20,000 views in six days. The description reads, "Harry Potter Wand that shoots fire!!! careful tho it lit my carpet on fire lmao. Get it at Csnoobs dot com!" (shown below, right).

David Dobrik Sets Assistant On Fire

Around August 16th, 2022, YouTuber David Dobrik posted a video to Snapchat where he flourishes the wand toward his assistant and another friend. A fireball shoots toward her and catches her hair on fire. The friend helps her put it out. Dobrik can be heard laughing in the background. The video was posted to Twitter^[6] by @defnoodles that day, garnering over 100 likes in three days (shown below).

On August 17th, YouTube's^[7] H3 Podcast reacted to the video in a video that gained over 700,000 views in two days (shown below).
