Come and Learn with Pibby! is an Adult Swim show announced via a YouTube trailer in late October 2021. The trailer and premise of the show, which shows the decay of a fictionalized Cartoon Network universe at the hands of a glitchy corrupting shadow, gained rapid virality on the internet after its reveal, spawning several edits, fan art depictions and memes.

Origin

Uploaded by Adult Swim's YouTube channel on October 30th, 2021,^[1] Come and Learn with Pibby! showcases the cartoon world of the titular character, Pibby, being overrun by a mysterious dark matter called "The Darkness," which turns the characters it captures into hostile, zombie-like entities. Throughout the trailer, Pibby is shown entering different cartoon worlds and encountering various iconic Cartoon Network characters from series such as The Flintstones, Adventure Time, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory and many others. The trailer gained over 445,000 views and 68,000 likes in 22 hours (shown below).

Its creator, Dodge Greenley,^[2][3][4] announced the publication of the show's trailer on Instagram, with a full poster showing Pibby battling against The Darkness^[5] (shown below).

Since the initial upload, news and hype for Pibby have increased dramatically online. On the subreddit /r/videos,^[6] the trailer was uploaded on October 30th, 2021, by Redditor ben123111, which garnered over 500 upvotes and multiple comments of support for the show and wishing it to become fully fleshed out in two days.

Later that day, a Twitter^[7] thread was started by Nick Raffa, who had leaked character lore that was posted onto 4chan about the characters, which generated more hype and led to fan art of the various stages of Pibby to be made, while earning 8,000 likes in two days (shown below).

A growing meme trend also showed other cartoons being consumed by the glitchy darkness that is seen within the show, with a notable example being uploaded to Twitter^[8] by Nexter45Art on October 31st, depicting PIbby in a Worst Mistake Of My Life meme beside Peter Griffin, earning 11,000 likes in 10 hours (shown below).
