Apple Vision Pro is a spatial computer housed in a mixed-reality headset that allows users to perform the regular functions of a computer through a headset that "seamlessly blends the real and digital world" using the VisionOS spatial operating system. The AR and VR headset, which is navigated with the user's eyes, is advertised as an alternative to more typical computers. The Vision Pro was announced in June 2023 during the 2023 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC23) and quickly became the subject of reactions and memes online following its reveal.

Apple Vision Pro was announced on June 5th, 2023, during WWDC23, the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. A preview for the Vision Pro was uploaded to Apple's YouTube[1] page that day, garnering over 450,000 views in under an hour (shown below). The video showcases the basic functions of the headset, revealing that it can be used to play video games, watch movies, take and "re-live" photos and videos, be used for conference calls, etc. They also highlight how the system integrates with reality, allowing headset users to still see the world around them through the set.

A post was also made on Apple.com's[2] newsroom page after its unveiling, further detailing the device. The headset is purportedly set to cost $3,499 and will release in early 2024.[3]

Online Reactions

News of the headset was widely reported on by the media, including online tech sites.[4][5] The Vision Pro also became the subject of reactions online on sites like Twitter,[6][7] where numerous users expressed their desire for the product but their disappointment over the high price, among other sentiments. The device also inspired memes about using the Vision Pro (examples shown below).


On the same day, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, posted another video showcasing the Vision Pro to Twitter,[8] garnering over 13,000 likes in under an hour (shown below).
