ON November 27th, 2018, Ninja tweeted a video animation that teased the release of the mouse. He captioned the post, "This is the story of how @Finalmouse and I discovered the truth and finally bridged two worlds. I’ll see you guys at the popup shop in LA December 1st." The tweet received more than 360 retweets and 4,100 likes in two weeks (shown below).
On December 1st, 2018, the Finalmouse tweeted [1] a photograph of the mouse. They captioned the photograph, "Air58 Ninja With Handmade Haiku Scrolls / Air and Art. Beautiful, like an ocean breeze flowing under your hand. 58 grams, should we say more? Words can’t explain, must experience. It feels like air, in your hand. It makes the Ultralight feel heavy. It is the Air58." The post received more than 1,000 retweets and 8,500 likes in less than one week (shown below).
Reception
Online, people expressed their disappointment with the design of the mouse. Some noted that, aside from the color, there was very little difference between the new mouse and Finalmouse's other products. Twitter[2] user @THump11th tweeted, "It's a recolored version of all your other mice. You put 0 effort into your products.. 0 innovation. Idk how you guys can hype this up with a straight face. That paycheck must be fat @Ninja @DrLupo." The tweet received more than 20 retweets and 580 likes in five days (shown below, left).
Twitter user @BubbleBoyOW tweeted[3] a compared the design to pair of Crocs sandals. The tweet received more than 625 likes in five days (shown below, center). Throughout the day, people continued to criticize the design (example below, right).
