"Suave" TikTok Song refers to a sped-up version of the song "Suave" by El Alfa El Jefe that started trending as a TikTok sound in February 2022. TikTokers also used the song in a dance trend where they'd shimmy their shoulders and make a frowning face. The trend can also be identified using the phrase SUAAAAVEEEEE [happy].

Origin

On December 8th, 2017, the musical artist El Alfa El Jefe released the official music for his song "Suave" to YouTube,[1] uploaded by his own channel called ElAlfaElJefeTV. The video (shown below, left) received roughly 51.3 million views and 463,00 likes over the course of five years.

On February 9th, 2022, YouTuber[2] Fallin posted a video titled, "Suave (sped up)," being a sped-up remix of El Alfa El Jefe's song aligning with music genres such as nightcore and drum and bass. The video (shown below, right) received roughly 1.1 million views and 48,000 likes over the course of three weeks.

On February 9th, 2022, the song was shared to TikTok by two separate users. The first account was TikTok[3] page spxedupsongs, which earned roughly 8.3 million plays and 860,900 likes over the course of three weeks (shown below, left). The second TikTok account was TikToker[4] lcvephoria, who made an edit with the song using clips from HBO's Euphoria showing the character Maddy Perez, earning roughly 3.6 million plays and 317,100 likes over the course of three weeks (shown below, right).

Users on the platform started to use the audio from the aforementioned TikToks in subsequent videos going into February. One of the first to do s was TikToker[5] ilyerenx, who posted an edit with the video on the 10th that earned roughly 7.8 million plays and 1.3 million likes in three weeks (shown below, left). On February 15th, TikToker[6] vimi.vm posted a video that used the song for a video of Len the Vocaloid dancing and shaking maracas, earning roughly 14.7 million plays and 3.5 million likes in two weeks (shown below, right).

On February 11th, 2022, TikToker[7] field.worker posted a video of himself dancing to the song. Although the audio is no longer listenable, it can be seen in the video (shown below, left) him dancing to the sped-up "Suave" sound, earning roughly 2.4 million views and 425,700 likes over the course of three weeks. His dance of shaking his hips, shimmying his shoulders and looking surprised by his own movements caught on with other TikTokers, effectively starting a dance trend. For instance, TikToker[8] bubblescantbesoggy posted a video doing the dance with the song on February 18th, earning roughly 9.8 million plays and 1.3 million likes in two weeks (shown below, right).
