Strawberry Makeup or Strawberry Girl Makeup refers to a makeup trend popularized by Hailey Bieber which uses pink hues to enhance the natural features of the face and give you a "summer" look, including pink lip liner and blush, accentuated with fake freckles added to the cheeks and nose. Bieber posted a video tutorial for the look in August 2023 and it went viral, inspiring others to try the look, as well as memes about the look.

Origin

On August 3rd, 2023, Hailey Bieber posted a selfie to Instagram^[1] captioned, "strawberry girl summer 🍓" where she is wearing a distinct makeup look accentuated by fake freckles, garnering over 2.6 million likes in four days. She posted a similar image to Instagram^[2] on August 4th, garnering over 2.5 million likes in four days. That day, Hailey Bieber posted a video to TikTok^[3] where she gives a tutorial on how to do an "Everday Strawberry Makeup" look. In the video, she shows her process, which involves priming her face with glazing milk and peptide glazing fluid, applying a pink shade of blush, highlighting her eyelids and lips and drawing fake freckles on her cheeks and nose (shown below). The video gained over 7 million views in three days.

Spread

The makeup trend spread online over the following days, inspiring tutorials by other creators and memes. On August 4th, 2023, TikToker^[4] @tarasigari posted a video doing the look, garnering over 4.2 million views in three days (shown below, left). On the same day, TikToker^[5] @raquel.arnetta posted a video making fun of the look, garnering over 750,000 views in the same span of time (shown below, right).

On August 5th, Twitter^[6] user @MediumSizeMeech posted, "No, but I really need y’all to grown a brain. 'Strawberry makeup'??? It’s ROUGE! You’re wearing BLUSH! Y’all are so dumb I hate it here. Hailey Baldwin Bieber I’m calling your father!!!' garnering over 1,100 likes in two days. On the same day, TikToker^[7] @stxph.h posted a video doing the look, garnering over 485,000 views in two days (shown below). That day, Harper's Bazaar^[8] reported on the trend.
