Stereo Love “Nigga” refers to a series of ironic video edits in which scenes from various movies are interrupted by a deep-fried or otherwise edited still screen, captioned with the word "Nigga" and accompanied by Edward Maya's song "Stereo Love". The edits were circulated on Instagram in late March 2019.
Origin
On August 31st, 2009, YouTube channel Spinnin' Records uploaded song "Stereo Love" by Romanian artists Edward Maya and Vika Jugliana to YouTube.[1] The video gained over 370 million views in ten years. The song was officially released by on October 19th, 2009.
On March 19th, 2019, Instagram user computerpwn posted an edited scene from 2007 animated film Meet the Robinsons.[2] In the edit, a still image of character Goob looking at his friend Lewis in a disappointed manner was accompanied by caption "Nigga" and song Stereo Love. The edit gained over 19,000 views and 3,000 likes in two weeks and was reposted by several popular Instagram meme pages.[3]
Spread
On March 24th, 2019, Instagram user bepiz.man submitted a variation of the meme using a scene from 2007 animated film Ratatouillie. The post gained over 810,000 views and 77,000 likes in ten days.
In the following days, multiple versions of the meme were appeared on Instagram, including notable posts by bepiz.man,[4] m6usy[5] and gazzo.if.[6] In numerous examples, the song accompanying the video was bass-boosted.
