Sproke

About

Sproke is a slang term referring to a mixture of Sprite and Coke (Coca-Cola). The term has been used online since as early as 2003. Throughout 2021, posts about mixing and enjoying Sproke, along with a copypasta reading, "I've got the sprite, and you've got the coke. It's fucking sproke time, dude!" became popular on 4chan. Sproke is often associated with images of Soyjaks, either drinking it, enjoying it or representing it as the ultimate beverage.

Origin

The earliest known instance of the term "sproke" in reference to Sprite mixed with Coke was posted to DeviantArt^[1] on May 29th, 2003, by djnugget84, in the form of a combined Sprite and Coke logo (shown below). The post's caption reads, "Now dont tell me you have never mixed fountain drinks. I know I have and when I do I usualy mix sprite and coke. I always wanted them to do a run of mix sodas and this, I beleve, would have been a hit. As usual, all coments are welcome."

"Sproke" was defined on Urban Dictionary^[2] in February 2010. It was first mentioned on 4chan^[3] by an anon on the /ck/ (cooking) board on August 12th, 2013, in a post reading, "Sproke was always my favorite when I was a kid. I haven't had it in like 10+ years though. Now that they've automated the soda machines I wonder if you can even get them anymore in the drive-thru."

On November 11th, 2018, YouTuber^[9] Dante Emmett posted a video mixing and drinking sproke, followed by excessive burping (shown below).

I've Got The Sprite, And You've Got The Coke

On December 7th, 2020, an anonymous user of 4chan's /tv/^[4] board posted an image of three soyjaks, one as a can of Sprite, one a can of Coke, and the other a glass they're pouring themselves into, with the phrase, "I've got the sprite, and you've got the coke. It's fucking sproke time, dude!" (shown below). The first comment is an anon claiming the image is their OC, although the original post is unknown.

The copypasta was posted across 4chan a number of times that month, often along with a Soyjak. On December 17th, an anon on /ck/^[5] posted an image of a soyjak wearing a drinking helmet with Sprite in one holster and Coke in the other with the caption: "SPRITE PLUS COKE EQUALS SPROKE" (shown below).

Posts referencing Sproke became increasingly popular on a number of 4chan boards over the course of 2021, including /pol/, /s4s/, and /tv/. Common posts include Wojaks and Aspie with Sproke, and depictions of Sproke itself (examples shown below).

Soyjaks and Sproke are often depicted alongside Fingerboys, which are, according to the Soyjak.Party Wiki,^[8] "a species of monstrous soyjak that draw inspiration from modern horror games such as Slender Man," who are sometimes taken from their nests by Soyjaks as juveniles and eaten (examples shown below).

On April 17th, 2021, /r/sproke^[7] opened. On July 9th, Twitter^[6] user @KeebyAstrokat posted "drank a tall glass of sproke tonight" along with a number of Sproke soyjaks, garnering over 790 likes in a day (shown below).
