About
Sprinting At Women At Night is a phrasal template meme that is similar in effect to women's shelter memes by having men ironically post about activities that aren't outright illegal, but would make women feel uncomfortable. Starting in 2021, the phrasal template was mostly used as text before it made the transition to TikTok and was incorporated into videos.
Origin
On July 2nd, 2021, the Twitter account @RellyCooper[1] uploaded an image of an emoji with his hands outstretched towards the viewer, with a caption saying that full-blown sprinting at women at night needed to become normalized. Though deleted later, the tweet was quickly shared around online, giving birth to the meme (shown below).
Spread
The phrase quickly spread before hitting TikTok later that month. On July 29th, 2021, one of the first examples on the platform was uploaded by the TikToker[2] m4chineb0y, where it gained over 740 likes in two years with the addition of real sprinting during the nighttime (shown below).
On November 13th, 2022, the TikToker[3] akeyt051 uploaded a TikTok that tried to take the phrase and cast it in a new light, saying that sprinting at them at night it would help the women to get into their houses faster, keeping them safe from the impending cold weather, earning over 200 likes in seven months and showing that there are different ways to use the format (shown below).
