Spit Facts is an expression from a Filthy Frank comedy sketch, in which he and fellow YouTubers MaxMoeFoe, iDubbbz and HowToBasic ask Vsauce host Michael Stevens for a spit sample, to which he offers to share factoids about saliva as well.
Origin
On August 3rd, 2016, Michael Stevens, host of Vsauce YouTube channel, appeared in the "Human Cake"[1] episode of TVFilthyFrank on YouTube. He portrayed a homeless man lying next to a wall. When the chefs arrived asking for spit, Michael greeted them with "Hey Vsauce, Michael Here" and offered "some spit facts, too". HowToBasic declined the offer and asked for "just the spit". Michael argues "that'll cost a little more". He is given a bottle and spits into it. When finished, he slightly enthusiastically asserts "some spit facts":

That day, Stevens posted a tweet about human saliva along with the hashtag "#spitfacts," gathering more than 14,300 likes and 3,100 retweets over the next four months (shown below).[3]
Later that month, a petition was created on Change.org[5] to "get Vsauce to talk about Spit Facts on his main channel" (shown below). Within four months, the petition gathered more than 220 signatures.
On 31 August 2016, Stevens posted a tweet about when someone tells him "they don't want to learn about spit" with an image of him destroying a front windshield using a baseball bat (shown below).[6]
On September 5th, 2016, Urban Dictionary[2] user ToasterMan submitted an entry for "Spit Facts," identifying it as "a meme originating from the TVFilthyFrank video Human Cake" (shown below). On September 2015, Redditor Nevermore3012 submitted a post asking about "spit facts" to /r/OutOfTheLoop.[4]
On February 4th, 2017, Stevens uploaded a video titled "Showing My Desk to Adam Savage".[7] Around the 16:40 mark, he points out 'the spit error': apparently he misspelled "salvia" on every beaker. He continues to take all blame and claim it was all his fault.
