About
Spider-Man: Far From Home IMAX Poster Parodies refers to a series of mocking edited images lampooning the promotional posters for the 2019 Marvel superhero film Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Origin
In June 2019, Marvel released a poster for the IMAX release of Spider-Man: Far From Home (shown below).[1]
That day, Twitter [2] user @TotallyRealMovi tweeted, "BREAKING: Sony has released a brand new poster for Spider-Man: Far From Home." The post received more than 7,100 likes and 2,000 retweets in three days (shown below).
Spread
That day, people began posting parodies of the poster, making intentionally bad image edits spoofs of the poster. For example, on June 11th, Twitter[3] user @valsreactor tweeted a Nobody meme with a poor photoshop. The post received more than 87,000 likes and 22,000 retweets in three days (shown below, left).
Over the next few days, others shared images in the same style and expressing this disappointment with the original poster.
Several media outlets covered the response to the poster, including Fast Company,[3] PopSugar,[4] Looper,[5] and more. Twitter[6] published a Moments page on the parodies.
