A few days after Marvel's Spider-Man 2 game was released on PS5, on October 20th, 2023, gamers discovered a glitch that replaced Spider-Man’s character model with a small white cube. YouTube^[1] user @akhafasu uploaded a clip on October 22nd, 2023, showing the glitch (shown below), amassing over 2,700 views and 41 likes in a week.

The glitch became a trending topic on X, as people shared their footage of the game, calling the glitch "Spider-cube." For instance, on October 23rd, 2023, X^[2] user @G27Status shared a gameplay of the glitched character (shown below), which amassed roughly 8 million views and 23,000 likes in a week

On October 22nd, 2023, @mistajonz^[3] posted a fan art inspired by the glitch (shown below, left), garnering over 28,000 likes and 2,600 retweets in a week. On October 26th, Insomniac Games announced that the Spider-cube glitch was patched and fixed, which instigated people to "mourn" the glitched character. For example, @mistajonz^[4] posted a comic-book cover of the character (shown below, right) amassing more than 11,000 likes and 1,400 retweets in a day.
