On December 14th, 2024, TikToker[1] @theyloveandro_ posted a video consisting of an image of a crematorium captioned, "Songs I'd play if I owned a crematorium," with the Eminem song "Love the Way You Lie" playing in the background, which features the lyrics "Just gonna stand there and watch me burn," garnering over 2 million views in four days. This is the earliest known example of the meme.

The trend went viral on TikTok in mid-December 2024, inspiring numerous viral examples. For example, on December 14th, 2024, TikToker[2] @plitw0 posted a version about the songs they'd play if they owned a psych ward, playing "Cut It" by O.T. Genasis, which features the repeated lyric "cut it," garnering over 940,000 views in four days.


On December 16th, TikToker[3] @ishaankumar2948 posted a video following the trend captioned, "Songs I would play if I owned a plastic surgery clinic," playing an edit of the One Direction song "You Don't Know You're Beautiful" that repeats "you're insecure" over and over again, garnering over 1.4 million views in two days.
