About
Son Loaf, also known as Loaf Son and by his offshoots like Melon Son, refers to a series of posts from internet comedian Dan Hentschel in which he puts a realistic toy baby head onto different objects, most notably a loaf of baguette bread, which he dubbed "Son Loaf." Hentschel began sharing Son Loaf posts on Twitter / X, Instagram and TikTok in March 2025. Son Loaf amassed fan art, redraws and discourse in the following weeks.
Origin
On December 31st, 2024, comedian Dan Hentschel shared a photo on X[2] of himself with a toy baby, captioned, "Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with my new little shit poster :-) Happy new year!" receiving over 77,000 likes in three months (shown below).
The tweet devolved into a series of toy baby posts shared by Hentschel in early 2025. For instance, on March 6th, he shared a photo to X[3] of the baby's head on a melon, captioned, "Melon son," gaining over 4.2 million views and 84,000 likes in 11 days (shown below).
On March 7th, 2025, Hentschel posted a photo on X,[1] showing the baby's head on a loaf of baguette bread, captioned, "Son loaf." The tweet received over 1.2 million views and 68,000 likes in 10 days (shown below).
Spread
The Melon Son post initially received memes and redraws, evident in a quote tweet shared by X[4] user @Gravitionss on March 7th, 2025, who replaced the Melon Son with a crying Roblox baby, gaining over 21,000 likes in 10 days (shown below).
On March 7th, X[5] user @TOKKBUGGY shared a redraw that replaced Hentschel with Hatsune Miku, gaining over 12,000 likes in 10 days (shown below).
Also on March 7th, 2025, Dan Hentschel shared a tweet[6] reading, "I genuinely believe there is a post out there I could make that would fix all my problems, give me all the success I ever wanted, and finally make me happy. I thought 'Son Loaf' was going to be that for me," amassing over 35,000 likes in 10 days (shown below).
Hentschel's Son Loaf posts continued in the following days, like on March 9th when he shared a photo on X,[7] showing Son Loaf standing upright on a children's playground slide, gaining over 36,000 likes in eight days (shown below).
Redraws, fan art and reactions to Son Loaf surfaced during the same timeframe. For instance, on March 8th, 2025, X[8] user @lafauexprod captioned a Son Loaf tweet, "I'll admit Son Loaf is pretty good," gaining over 39,000 likes in nine days (shown below).
On March 9th, 2025, X[9] user @XCoolDude69X shared an Invincible War OC called "Son Loafincible," gaining over 21,000 likes in six days (shown below).
