On May 7th, 2019, Walt Disney Studios YouTube channel uploaded a scene from upcoming musical fantasy film Aladdin in which character Aladdin jumps off the palace balcony onto his magic carpet below.^[1] The video gained over 2.2 million views in four weeks.

On May 25th, 2019, Twitter user @MattPostSaysHi edited a version of the scene in which the film cuts to the credits just after Aladdin jumps off the balcony. The tweet received more than 25,000 likes and 4,500 retweets in less than one year (shown below).

On May 28th, 2019, YouTube user Nikjay uploaded a humorously edited version of the video to the platform, with the video gaining over 125,500 views in three days.^[2] On the same day, Redditor plowkiller posted the video to /r/youtubehaiku subreddit, where it gained over 10,500 upvotes in three days.^[3]

In the following days, more edits of the scene were posted to YouTube and Reddit, with notable versions made by users Yntelligence,^[4] alex the mediocre^[5] and dude memes.^[6]
