About
Sometimes When I'm Bored I Dip My Son In Tar, also known as Kid Covered In Black Mud, is an exploitable image series of memes, including redraws, based on a photo of a child covered head-to-toe in black mud. The most prevalent version of the meme is captioned, "Sometimes when I'm bored I dip my two year old son in tar and he scream loud as fuuuuuuuck." The image was first posted online in January 2019 when a Vietnamese Facebook user made a post about a boy getting up at night to go to the bathroom in the garden and falling into the mud, sharing photos of the boy both covered in mud and being cleaned off.
The image garnered viral spread over the following years, becoming a prevalent redraw meme in 2025. Some memes also compare the boy to the Spider-Man villain Venom as if he's being taken over by a symbiote.
