Something's In My Ass is a poorly sung parody of Nirvana's song "Something In The Way" that replaces the word "way" with "ass." The song was posted to TikTok in March 2022 shortly after the release of The Batman, which features the original Nirvana track and popularized it that year. The parody's original sound went viral on TikTok over the following weeks and was deleted around March 10th, 2022.

Origin

On March 10th, 2022, TikToker @sansmoney posted a skit to TikTok^[1] featuring an original parody of "Something In the Way" where he sings, "something's in my ass." In the video, he pretends to drive a car while lip dubbing the song under the caption, "me driving to work after shoving my Batman action figure in my butt," gaining over 1.1 million views in 11 days. The video is still available on TikTok without audio, as the original sound was removed from TikTok around March 20th. He reuploaded the video with its audio to his Instagram^[4] page following its deletion (shown below).

On March 14th, 2022, the audio was uploaded to YouTube,^[2] gaining over 75,000 views in a week (shown below, left). On March 16th, YouTuber CreepR posted a cover of the parody, expanding on it and setting it to footage of Subway Surfers, gaining over 38,000 views in five days (shown below, right).

On March 19th, shortly before the audio's deletion, YouTuber TokPlugg posted a 10-minute-plus compilation of videos using the sound, gaining over 2,000 views in two days (shown below, right).

The original sound^[3] became popularized on TikTok but was deleted around March 20th, 2022. That day, the creator of the parody, TikToker @sansmoney, posted a video explaining how it had been removed for a community guideline violation and he could not appeal it, also saying it's encouraged him to potentially move to a new social media platform (shown below).
