Origin

In April 2022, Pinterest^[1] user saf, also known as @makimahater, posted an edited image of Tyler, the Creator with a raised eyebrow, captioned, "something malicious is brewing…🤨" On April 19th, Instagram^[2] user awgepics reposted a cropped version of the image, garnering over 6,800 likes in seven months.

Spread

The meme gained spread over the following months. On May 10th, 2022, it was posted to Tumblr^[3] by rottinggrl, garnering over 1,600 notes in six months. On July 18th, it was reposted by Instagram^[4] user peanut_butter_memes_clean_, garnering over 7,700 likes in four months. On July 19th, TikToker^[5] @seanceklaus included the meme in an Umbrella Academy edit, garnering over 396,000 views in four months (shown below).

On August 10th, a Redditor posted a meme about Terraria using the image to /r/196,^[6] garnering over 4,600 upvotes in three months (shown below).

On August 19th and 20th, YouTubers^[7][8] Whirow and Meme Zee posted videos using the meme, garnering over 29,000 and 290,000 views respectively in three months (shown below, left and right).

On October 8th, Twitter^[9] user @DaftPina posted the meme with the caption, "Overwatch 2 devs seeing someone stole their 'unhackable' models," garnering over 13,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in a month. The meme was turned into an image macro and posted to iFunny^[10] on October 10th, gaining over 16,000 smiles in the same rough span of time. It was reposted by Instagram^[11] user yourlordandsaviormonke on October 18th, gaining over 64,000 likes in two weeks.
