The Soldier, Poet, King Quiz is a viral quiz available on uQuiz that determines whether you're a "soldier," "poet" or "king" based on a series of questions. The quiz was created by Tumblr user atlanticsea and is inspired by the song "Soldier, Poet, King" by The Oh Hellos. It then went viral on TikTok in mid-January 2023 as users posted videos revealing their results. The trend is largely set to a sped-up version of the "Soldier, Poet, King" song.

Origin

Sometime around early January 2023, uQuiz user nour (atlanticsea on Tumblr) posted a 20-question quiz titled "Are you a Soldier, a Poet, or a King?" to Uquiz,^[1] the description reading, "There will come… who, exactly ? Heavily inspired by the song 'Soldier, Poet, King' by The Oh Hellos. Not heavily inspired by Christianity." As early as January 16th, TikTokers began posting their results after taking the quiz. For example, on January 18th, 2023, TikToker^[2] @jorgiebug posted a video, writing in the description, "according to The uquiz test i’m a king," garnering over 1.1 million views in five days (shown below).

Videos discussing and referencing the quiz became increasingly prevalent on TikTok over the following days. On January 21st, 2023, TikToker^[3] @iamyourmothersmistress posted a video about how she wanted to get "the poet" as her result but got "the king" instead, garnering over 4.3 million views in two days (shown below, left). On January 22nd, TikToker^[4] @magladon06 posted a video about how she got the poet, garnering over 2.1 million views in a day (shown below, right). On January 23rd, Dexerto^[5] published an article on the quiz.
