SNP Commandments refers to a social game which started on Twitter where Scottish National Party (SNP)'s supporters started creating commandments of the party in response to being branded as a cult by Scottish Conservative Party leader Jackson Carlaw.

Like the SNP Civil War social game originating in 2018, this was another instance where SNP supporters started mocking things originating something beginning by Scottish unionists or a group of Scottish unionists.

Origin

On February 14th, 2020, Jackson Carlaw was elected as leader of the Scottish Conservative Party. During an interview with BBC News, he compared the SNP to a cult and said that they were not a political party at all (see below).

Spread

In response to Jackson Carlaw branding the SNP as a cult, several SNP supporters started created commandments.

Twitter user @scouseweegian started tweeting several commandments which gained over 1,000 likes (see below).



The hashtag #SNPcommandments started trending on Twitter in various cities in Scotland and later began trending in the United Kingdom at number 5.

June 2020 resurface

The hashtag was used again in June 2020 when the Twitter user Wordamentalist started the trend again in response to Scottish politics relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
