Snoop Dogg Rage Quit refers to an exploitable viral video depicting a clip of rapper and Twitch streamer Snoop Dogg rage quitting during a livestream of Madden NFL 21, cursing and then angrily exiting the frame. Since the original broadcast on Snoop’s channel, the clip has been edited into a number of other videos such as various video games, memes and other variants showing Snoop angrily reacting to the footage before leaving. The format was popularized on YouTube in March 2021.

Origin

On February 28th, 2021, Snoop Dogg streamed himself playing Madden NFL 21 on his Twitch^[1] channel under the title “Sit Back, Relax, and Chill its a vibe in here.” About 15 minutes into the livestream, Snoop reacts angrily to the game after failing to stop a touchdown and suddenly screams “Fuck!” before rage quitting and exiting the frame. The stream continued running without Snoop for roughly seven hours after his exit when it was shut off after racking up almost half a million views.

Though the original was removed from his channel, it was reuploaded by several users online, including by YouTube^[2] channel Bringing Down The Band on March 1st where it received nearly 300,000 views, 5,400 likes and 1,100 comments in 22 days (shown below).

The earliest known example of the clip being used as a meme appeared shortly after on March 1st, 2021, when YouTuber^[3] Squicx uploaded a video edited to show Snoop rage quitting the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas mission “Wrong Side of The Tracks,” receiving over 158,000 views, 5,600 likes and 260 comments in 22 days (seen below).

On March 4th, 2021, YouTuber^[4] Squicx uploaded a version showing Snoop learning the truth about the Busty Aunt Cass meme, receiving over 2.5 million views, 92,000 likes and 2,100 comments in 19 days (shown below, left). That same day, YouTuber^[5] Happydeathgrin uploaded a variant with Snoop being killed by the first troll in Skyrim’s High Hrothgar, receiving over 846,000 views, 23,000 likes and 980 comments (shown below, right).

On March 6th, 2021, YouTuber^[6] Squicx uploaded another meme showing footage from Cyberpunk 2077, accumulating over 821,000 views, 26,000 likes and 1,100 comments in 17 days (seen below, left). On March 13th, YouTuber^[7] Jazff Gaming uploaded a version titled “Snoop Dogg Rage Quits His Own Videogame,” accumulating over 146,000 views, 6,700 likes and 310 comments in 10 days (seen below, right).

As of March 23rd, the #snoopdoggragequit hashtag has over 230 videos in total on YouTube^[8] referencing the clip or meme.
