Lemon Snake Challenge is a series of TikTok videos in which users try to make a serious face after drinking a lot of lemon juice. The videos, which began in March 2020, are a spin-off of the snake challenge using the song "Snake" by Lil Keed that involves swiping a hand across the face to reveal a serious face.

Origin

On March 22nd, 2020, TikToker @madisonkulak16 uploaded the first Lemon Snake Challenge video using the song "Snake" by Lil Keed (shown below). The video garnered over 1.3 million likes in two weeks.

Precursor

On March 21st, 2020, Addison Rae uploaded a snake challenge video with @zanehijazi, @nataliemariduena and @daviddobrik that received over 5.2 million likes in two weeks (shown below).

Spread

On April 2nd, 2020, TikToker @mya5 uploaded a video in which they successfully complete the lemon snake challenge (shown below, left). The video gained over 726,500 likes in five days. On April 4th, TikToker @spencerx and @dviddobrick uploaded lemon snake challenge videos which received over 380,900 likes and 1.4 million likes respectively in three days (shown below, right). StayHipp published an article on the challenge.
