About
Sleepovers Now refers to a snowclone popular on Twitter in which a person compares the lighthearted gaiety of sleepovers from their youth to the more morbid topics broached during sleepovers had in older age.
Origin
On January 10th, 2018, Twitter user @lusxt[1] posted a viral tweet which read: "sleepovers when ur small: omg stop laughing and go to sleep u guys!! sleepovers now: i don't think i'm capable of love." The tweet gained over 95,000 retweets and 341,000 likes (shown below).
Spread
Over the course of the following few weeks, the tweet became a template in which other users posted variations with other grim topics broached at older-age sleepovers. Early examples include tweets by @shrimpnosebeats[2] and @Dylan4Prez_[3] (shown below).
Other popular tweets include a tweet by @graysons__abs[4] which gained over 70 retweets and 390 likes (shown below, left). Another by @void_daddy_[5] gained 18 retweets and 116 likes (shown below, right).
