Skeleton Banging Shield or Rahhhhh is an exploitable meme format used in video edits and image macros based on an animation of a skeleton from the RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim yelling and banging on a shield. The skeleton's animation was uploaded online as early as 2014 and paired with the shouting sound effect and banging crowbar sound from Half-Life as early as October 2025, when YouTuber robparx uploaded the meme. It became an increasing subject of memes in December 2025, leading into January 2026.

Origin

The animation of the skeleton banging on the shield originates from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. A green-screen compilation of the skeleton's animations, including the shield banging, was uploaded by YouTuber[1] PixelBoom on November 5th, 2014, garnering over 41,699 views in 12 years.



On April 14th, 2022, YouTuber[9] Jordan504 reposted a sound effect, titled "Ignore My Yawn (TikTok Meme) – Original Sound," of a man holding a stone and the roaring, calling it their "yawn" and garnering over 85,000 views in two years.



On August 1st, 2023, YouTuber[2] Hearing Sounds posted the isolated sound effect, titled "RAAAH Sound Effect," of the person roaring, garnering over 103,000 views in two years.

On July 16th, 2023, YouTuber Relljr02 uploaded a video titled "Half life crowbar sound effect," featuring the banging sound later used in the memes, receiving over 88,000 views in two years.



On October 10th, 2025, YouTuber[3] robparx posted a video combining the skeleton shield animation with the roaring sound effect and the banging sound of the crowbar from Half-Life, garnering over 508,000 views in three months.

Memes using the combined skeleton animation and "raaah" sound effect became increasingly popularized in late 2025.

On November 5th, 2025, TikToker[4] @mr.carrotc posted the animation, garnering over 1.8 million views in two months.

On December 16th, TikToker[5] @truharu posted a meme using the animation under the caption, "me waking up my parents on Christmas at 3am (I need to open presents now)," garnering over 84,000 views in a month.


On December 22nd, 2025, X[6] user @jeonngicals posted the animation under the caption, "my stomach the second I'm in a quiet public space," garnering over 300,000 likes in two weeks.

On December 27th, Redditor u/OrganizationLow8195 posted a recreation of the animation to the /r/Ultrakill[7] subreddit, replacing the skeleton with a Gutterman, garnering over 4,600 upvotes in a week.



On January 3rd, 2026, TikToker[8] @djams_pizzaplex posted a recreation of the meme that replaces the skeleton with Freddy Fazbear banging a microphone against a shield, garnering over 6.7 million views in two days.
