The Flood Forum (now known as #Offtopic) is a general interest forum on the website bungie.net^[1][2] known for its random topics, meme and humor. The 10th listed forum on the site, it is arguably the most active public forum on the site. The board takes its name from aFlood, a parasitic enemy from the Bungie video game series Halo.

History

On April 15th, 2004, an anonymous user on the bungie.net^[3] forum asked a board mod to create an "offtopic-topic" forum. Stosh responded, "Actually I was talking to sketch today and he said bungie is thinking about making an off topic forum. I think it's a pretty good idea."

Features

The Flood works much like other online forums. Users have the ability to create new threads, reply to specific comments, upvote comments they like and report inappropriate material.^[7]

“Challenge Accepted” is an expression used to indicate that the speaker is willing to attempt completing a difficult task. The phrase is often associated with a rage comic character illustrated as a stick figure with crossed arms and a smug facial expression.

On December 31st, 2010, The Flood Forum became one of the earliest sites to use the rage face.^[8] The thread "When a teacher tells you…" was created by user Bsonian101Fish and featured numerous uses of the comic and reached more than 12 pages.

Ming = Blown (Mind=Blown)

"Ming=Blown" is a deliberate misspelling of the expression "Mind=Blown" intended as an inside meme for the forum users. The expression originated on the Flood Forum and has been used as a shitpost.

JOHN CENA

JOHN CENA an infamous Flood user due to his reputation from spamming "JOHN CENA" across his post body, which was a hyperlink to 'meatspin' sites. This idea has been known to have spread across to various different sites such as YouTube and Facebook
