Powerpuff Yourself is an Flash-based character generator which allows users to design their own original characters in the style of the Cartoon Network animated series Powerpuff Girls The game became popular based on its ease of use and association with the popular show, but has also gained considerable notoriety for its easily recognizable style and often poor results.

History

The game was created by Cartoon Network to promote the 2016 reboot of Powerpuff Girls. Cartoon Network announced the game on April 1st,^[2] promoting it along with the hashtag #PowerpuffYourself, which became the top trending topic that day in the USA according to Trendinalia USA.^[3]

Users began posting pictures of their own Powerpuff Girl avatars, and many publications also began creating avatars of public figures, like the 2016 Presidential Candidates and popular groups like One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Beyoncé in the Powerpuff style. The site's products were incredibly popular on Facebook, where over 100,000 people were discussing the hashtag, and also on Tumblr.

Features

Like many other avatar generators, the program first begins with a blank, white-skinned Powerpuff avatar. Users can first choose from a variety of skin color options, and a menu for choosing other features, including facial features, hair, clothing, and other accessories.

After the user is satisfied with the avatar, they are prompted to choose a background upon which it can sit, all of which are animated.

Users are given a prompt to enter their birthday, and then can export the avatar by itself, or as a desktop wallpaper or animated avatar. The avatars can then be published directly to Facebook or Twitter.
