Overview

John Bravo Runs or John_Bravo_Runs is a TikTok and Instagram account that posts videos of a kid nicknamed John Bravo running from one specific part of his school to another as a crowd of students cheers him on. It is unclear why John is running in the videos. Allegedly, it is just something that John regularly does that became notable among the students. It is possible he is running to his next class or to the cafeteria for lunch. The first video was posted to Instagram in November 2022. In January 2023, music producer Kenny Beats teamed up with Nike LA to give John new running gear.

History

On November 2nd, 2022, the john_bravo_runs Instagram^[1] page posted its first video, showing John Bravo running from one end of a school courtyard to another as a small group of students cheers him on, garnering over 4,100 likes in two months. The account posted numerous videos of him running that day. It is possible there was an account documenting John's runs before this.

As the account continued to post videos of John running, the crowd of onlookers in the videos increased in size. John is often smiling as he runs by the crowd and gives out high fives, such as in a November 29th upload to Instagram^[2] that gained over 6,600 likes in two months.

On January 7th, 2023, the @john_bravo_runs TikTok^[5] page posted its first video, garnering over 7.6 million views in five days (shown below, left). The account posted five more videos by January 12th, the most viewed (posted to TikTok^[6] on January 11th) garnering over 8 million views in a day (shown below, right).

It is unclear exactly why John runs from this end of the school to the other so regularly, although theories are often posted in the comments. Some fans of the page comment claiming it's just something he does. On the first TikTok upload, user @connectivitee commented, "You know how there some kids in school who sprint to the next class. Ppl noticed he does this and it became a school event to watch him do it," garnering over 11,000 likes, although this is not the confirmed reason.

Meeting With Nike and Kenny Beats

On January 6th, 2023, record producer Kenny Beats made a post on Twitter^[3] (@kennybeats) announcing how he teamed up with Nike LA after finding the John Bravo Runs account to give John some new running gear, including shoes, garnering over 2,400 likes in six days. On January 7th, the john_bravo_runs Instagram^[4] page posted a video and photos of the meeting, garnering over 19,000 likes in five days (shown below).

John Bravo Runs is active on TikTok^[7] and Instagram^[8] @john_bravo_runs with over 67,000 followers on the former and 69,000 followers on the latter.

Fan Edits

Following the success of the TikTok page in January 2023, TikTokers began posting fan edits and content of John Bravo. For example, on January 11th, 2023, TikToker^[9] @fw.akbanned.01k posted an edit that gained over 160,000 views in a day (shown below).
