Jasper the Doll refers to a TikTok character on the page (@jasper.the.doll) who's an altered Barbie doll named Jasper who sports Joker-style makeup, messy hair and a raspy voice. Jasper the Doll gained a mass following in late 2022 and early 2023 on the platform, which snowballed due to viral duets from other TikTokers who cosplayed as Jasper and mimicked her videos by mirroring her movements and lip dubbing her words.

Online History

The name of Jasper the Doll's creator is currently unknown, however, she has a TikTok^[1] account called @fartbeans7 on which she's revealed her face. The creator posted her first TikTok^[2] to the Jasper the Doll account on April 30th, 2021, in which Jasper was not featured. Instead, other altered Barbie dolls (including Ken dolls) are shown, made to represent the characters of Twilight. Over the course of two years, the video received roughly 50,200 plays and 2,900 likes (shown below, left). On August 5th, 2021, @jasper.the.doll posted a TikTok^[3] that revealed Jasper for the first time, earning roughly 36,200 plays and 1,800 likes in two years (shown below, right).

The account received increased engagement with a TikTok^[4] posted on October 12th, 2021, that was a skit with Jasper the Doll. The video received roughly 1.4 million plays and 403,200 likes in two years (shown below, left). On November 7th, 2021, the account posted another TikTok^[5] that received over 1 million plays, earning roughly 1.6 million plays and 323,100 likes in two years (shown below, right).

TikTok Duets

Viral duets with @jasper.the.doll surfaced in February 2023, directly following a TikTok^[6] uploaded by the account on February 23rd, 2023, that received roughly 7.3 million plays and 1.3 million likes in 13 days (shown below, left). On February 25th, 2023, TikToker^[7] @hannasellner posted the first viral duet with the video, claiming in their text overlay that they needed to duet the video in order to save it forever. The duet received roughly 1.4 million plays and 194,800 likes in 11 days (shown below, right).

On March 2nd, 2023, TikToker^[8] @cassie.lyons posted a duet with the aforementioned @jasper.the.doll video in which they were cosplaying as Jasper and mirroring the video's audio and movements. Over the course of six days, the video received roughly 2.5 million plays and 376,800 likes (shown below).

The duet's style gained copycat TikToks^[9] going into March 2023 as @jasper.the.doll duets became a trending topic, spreading to discourse on other platforms like Twitter ^[10] and Reddit's /r/fixedbytheduet.^[11]
