About

Fish4Hoes is a scam dating website which will redirect users to other dating scam sites, evidently receiving money for promoting the other sites. It has been used in fake text-message memes, which are usually posted in subreddits dedicated to cringeworthy content like /r/badfaketexts and /r/comedycemetary.

History

It is unclear when exactly Fish4Hoes.com launched. However, the site has a 2017 copyright date. The site brings users to a page where one can choose their nationality. However, all buttons link to a different site, meetwild.com, which is a scam dating site. A July 12th, 2018 investigation into the site by blog datingbusters[1] reveals that the website is run out of Leeds, England.

Fish4Hoes began gaining attention after it was seen being used in fabricated text message screenshots. A September 13th, 2017 post to /r/badfaketexts[2] was one of the earliest recorded instances of Fish4Hoes appearing in memes. An Instagram post, since deleted, showing the site was scraped by meme-scraper Esmemes on September 22nd, 2017[3] at over 6,800 upvotes (shown below, right).

After a period where mentions of the site lulled, it began appearing again in the spring and summer of 2018. A post in /r/comedycemetery posted July 20th, 2018 gained over 1,100 points (shown below, left). Another post appeared in /r/badfaketexts the same day, gaining 27 points (shown below, right).
