Origin

Artflow.ai was launched in mid-July 2021 by Artflow Program, with its earliest social media post on Facebook announcing the websites' launch on July 16th, 2021.[1][2] The site's Twitter[10] account often posts advertisements and examples of AI creations that users can generate or have generated.

On July 28th, Artflow.ai's Twitter account posted an image containing 2 classic memes with AI added features: A gender-bent version of the Overly Attached Girlfriend (Overly Attached Boyfriend) and Scumbag Steve vampire (shown, below).[3]

On August 29th, 2021, Twitter user @imFireMonkey posted several renditions of various memes, such as Big Chungus, which received 72 likes and 1 retweet in 4 days (shown below, left).[4] On August 31st, 2021, Reddit user Fall_of_89 posted a rendition of Vinny Vinesauce on r/Vinesauce, garnering 44 points in 2 days (shown below, right).[5]



Several threads were made on image-board website 4chan, particularly on the /pol/ board, where anonymous users posted their own renditions and AI creations.[6][7][8] On August 31st, Redditor u/BloodyPommelStudios posted an image to /r/Berserk[11] showing renditions of characters from the anime Berserk, gaining over 2,100 upvotes in four days (shown below).



On September 1st, 2021, Redditor u/mstilw577 posted a rendition of all nine characters in Team Fortress 2 using their Wikipedia descriptions as the input to /r/tf2[9] gaining over 8,700 upvotes in two days (shown below).
