About
SigSig Emoticon YTPs is a YouTube Poop video fad started by YouTuber Mowtendoo[1] which involves pairing up a video clip slowly zooming in on a subject's face and the Beatmania track SigSig by a Japanese composer Kosuke Saito. The videos are typically titled after various ASCII emoticons that correspond with facial expressions worn by the subjects.
Origin
Mowtendoo uploaded the original video titled ":D" to YouTube on March 1st, 2012. Within three weeks the video accumulated over 44,000 views. (official reupload shown below)
The video used a clip from the 2010 Old Spice commercial "Zoom 15" starring American actor Terry Crews accompanied by the song SigSig.
Spread
The same day the video was uploaded, Mowtendoo tweeted a link to video to Terry Crews.

The following day, YouTuber Imyournewpeppep[2] uploaded a video titled “:o” inspired by Mowtendoo’s video. This version featured a different segment from the same footage of Terry Crews, set to the 2009 electornica single “Happy Up Here” by the Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp.
On March 3rd, user BadaBoomBadaBang posted a link to the original Mowtendoo video in a "funny pics and videos" thread in response to a YouTube poop reply in the Tale Worlds[3] Mount&Blade Warband video game forums.
The videos have since spread to Tumblr[4] under the tag "#mowtendoo." As of March 21st, 2012, Mowtendoo has accumulated 8,669 subscribers on YouTube and 198 followers on Twitter.[5]
Notable Examples
In less than three weeks, over 105 derivative videos have been submitted in response to Mowtendoo's upload.[6]
Search Interest
The volume of Google search queries for the videos is little known due to the fact that most search engine omit certain characters like slashes and dashes that are used in titles for these videos.
