Shotta Flow, is a song by American rapper NLE Choppa, released as a single in January 2019. Starting in June 20th, following a release of a remix of the song featuring rapper Blueface, a music video for the remixed version gained a significant presence in edits on Instagram.

Origin

On January 11th, 2019, American rapper NLE Choppa released single "Shotta Flow" (music video shown below, left).^[1] On the week of July 27th, 2019, the song reached number 36th position on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart^[2] and was certified Platinum by the RIAA in June 2019.^[3]

On June 20th, a music video for a remixed version of the song, featuring Blueface, was released (shown below, right).^[4] The video gained over 49.4 million views on YouTube in six weeks.

Following the release of the music video for the remixed version of the song, the part of the video in which Blueface comes out from behind a crowd of people gained popularity as a reaction video. For example, on June 24th, 2019, Insagram user heavenlyvolt posted a meme based on the video which gained over 16,100 views and 1,000 likes in five weeks (shown below).^[5]

In the following weeks, the video gained further spread on the platform, with notable memems posted by users urfatuglyhead,^[6] ze0nx^[7] and labrynth.mp3.^[8]
