Shocked Clemson Girl is a reaction image meme of a Clemson Tigers college football fan, which depicts a woman making an expression of shock or surprise during the Clemson vs. Florida State Seminoles game in late September 2023. Following the game and broadcast of the moment appearing online, her reaction became a viral meme on Twitter / X.

Origin

On September 23rd, 2023, the Clemson Tigers match against the Florida State Seminoles ended with the Tigers' defeat with a 31–24 in overtime score. One horrified Clemson fan, who was seemingly in shock after the missed field goal, went viral after ABC’s cameras caught her reaction on live TV. A still image of her reaction in which she has her hands on her head and her mouth open in shock was first posted on X^[1] by user @nocontextcfb (shown below), amassing over 3,600 likes and 268 retweets in two days.

As her reaction went viral on X, users started to edit the picture in other memes about the Tigers' defeat. For instance, on the same day the image became a viral meme (September 23rd, 2023), the X account @RedditCFB^[2] posted a caption (shown below, left) using the Tigers' fan with the text "🐍 CLEMSON CHIP SHOT SURRENDER COBRA 🐍," which amassed more than 1,100 likes and 66 retweets in two days.

That same day, the Bleacher Report X^[3] account also used the Shocked Clemson Girl meme paired with the caption "CLEMSON MISSES THE GO-AHEAD FIELD GOAL 😳," which garnered more than 4,300 likes and 244 retweets in two days (shown below, right).
