She Was Already Dead When I Found Her refers to a series of exploitable webcomics. The comic features a firefighter rescuing an elderly woman from a burning building, who then decides not to save the woman after she speaks. Online, people change what the woman says for humorous effect and to express their opinion.

Origin

On October 3rd, 2017, Infinipop Comics published a webcomic entitled "Firefighter" on Instagram. ^[1] In the original comic, the woman says to the firefighter, "Make me wet with your hose, daddy!" This leads the firefighter to abandon the rescue and tell the police, "She was already dead when I found her. The post received more than 18,000 likes in less than one year.

Two days later, the comic was was posted on the /r/funny subreddit ^[2] by imahawki. The post (shown below) received more than 1,600 points (91% upvoted) and 20 comments.

Spread

Several months later, on January 23rd, 2018, Imgur ^[3] user FlyingBurger shared a version of the comic that featured elements from the popular webcomic and reaction image "This Is Fine" (shown below, left)

On April 29th, 2018, Redditor^[4] 9-11-73 published a photoshopped version of the comic in which the woman says, "Did you just assume my gender you cis scum?!?" The post (shown below, center) received more than 395 points (96% upvoted) and 25 comments. The following day, the comic was shared on the "/r/MemeEconomy subreddit,^[5] where it received more than 170 points (79% upvoted).

Two months later on June 26th, Redditor^[6] Roby_Z shared a template of the exploitable. The post (shown below, right) received more than 12,000 points (19% upvoted) and 315 comments in 24 hours.

That day, Redditor^[7] Magnetronbaguette posted a variation in the /r/dankmemes subreddit. This version references the Loss with the woman saying, "This is a four panel meme, so it must be loss right?" The post (shown below) received more than 750 points (92% upvoted) in less than six hours.
