On August 2nd, 2017, Twitter user @Loopzoop[5] posted "Sex is an intimate and sacred act. Ladies your body is a temple and you should not be sharing it with anyone who doesnt watch family guy," gaining over 440 retweets and 2,000 likes (shown below).
Spread
Later that day, @HUNTYCHAN[1] posted a more viral play on the format, posting "Sex is an intimate and sacred act. Ladies your body is a temple and you should not be sharing it with anyone who doesnt play Animal Crossing," gaining over 4,500 retweets and over 10,000 likes (shown below).
As the tweet spread, its template grew into a snowclone as other people inserted various stipulations as to why a person should not have sex with another. Two of the most popular tweets include references to global warming[3] and Through The Fire and The Flames, [4] which gained 18,000 and 14,000 retweets, respectively (shown below). The popularity of the snowclone was covered by The Daily Dot[2] on August 10th.
