Send This To Your Crush With No Context is a frequently used caption to absurd and humorous videos and images. People use the phrase to parody online challenges that encourage people to tell their love interests about their true feelings.

Origin

On August 17th, 2013, Tumblr [1] user chespin posted a screenshot from the video game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. In the image, the character Grossberg says, "Ooohhh…You've really lit a fire in my heart… And my buttocks!" The post (shown below) received more than 40,000 notes in four-and-a-half years.

Spread

The following year, on July 23rd, 2014, YouTuber [2] Costlyblood posted a video of a person looking directly at the camera dramatically with the phrase as a title. The post (shown below, left) received more than 147,000 views in three-and-a-half years.

The following year, Vine [3] account Common White Girl published a video entitled “send this to your crush…. just do it.” The video (shown below, right) received more than 28,000 likes, 14,000 revines and 19 million loops.

The title became a popular phrase for a series of absurd video. On February 7th, 2017, YouTuber[4] Izzy Humair published a video with the title "Send this to your crush with no context." The post (shown below) received more than 4.9 million views in one year.
