Sekiro "Woo" Guy refers to a notable enemy in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. At a certain point while the player is traversing Ashina Castle for the first time, a Nightjar Ninja enemy will come falling from the sky making an aggressive "Woo" noise and attack the player. The moment surprised many players, particularly streamers of the game, leading to several notable compilations of streamers reacting to the enemy that were covered by gaming media outlets.
Origin
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the player is introduced to the Nightjar Ninja enemy while first scaling Ashina Castle. Crossing a certain point will cause a Nightjar Ninja to come falling from the sky in an attempt to attack Sekiro, making a long "woo" noise as he falls (shown below).
Spread
The moment became a notorious surprise among players. On March 25th, 2019, YouTube channel SaneTBD uploaded a compilation of streamers reacting to the moment, gaining over 649,000 views (shown below). The compilation became popular on blogs, and was featured on articles in Polygon,[1] Games Radar,[2] PC Gamer,[3] and others.
The moment also became popular among Sekiro fans on Reddit. User CabGig[4] posted an image of the enemy with the caption, "These guys must fucking love their jobs," gaining over 2,200 points (shown below, left). A clip of the moment was posted to /r/YouTubeHaiku[4] and gained over 160 points (shown below, right). The video was one of several comparisons to the "Woo" guy and the You've Been Gnomed video.
