About
"Second Breakfast" is a phrase used by a character in the 2001 film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
Origin
In the film, the four hobbits have teamed up with Aragon (Viggo Mortensen) and are travelling from Bree to Rivendell. At one point, Aragon sees how his travelmates are unpacking, urging them to continue onwards instead. Peregrin "Pippin" Took (Billy Boyd) asks if they shouldn't eat breakfast, and when Aragon point out they have eaten breakfast already, Pippin points out that they have had one breakfast but he desires two.
Aragon: "Gentlemen, we do not stop until nightfall."
Pippin: "What about breakfast?"
Aragon: "You already had it."
Pippin: "We had one, yes. What about second breakfast?"
Aragon: (stares, then turns around and continues walking)
Merry: "I don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip."
