About

Seattle Seahawks Logo refers to jokes made about the 2017 update of the logo for the NFL the Seattle Seahawks.

Origin

On September 5th, 2017, the Seattle Seahawks unveiled their new logo in a Facebook post (shown below).[1] The logo is intended to be an alternate logo to the team's current one, which is an image of the same bird shown from a profile angle.

Spread

Shortly after the post, users took to Twitter to joke about the new logo by comparing it to various characters. A popular point of comparison is The Muppets character Sam the Eagle. The most popular post on the Seahawks' post compares the logo to Sam, as does a popular tweet by @Datt_Mavis_[2] that gained over 360 retweets (shown below, left). The most popular point of comparison was tweeted by @scohenPI,[6] who compared the logo to Simpsons character Mr. Burns and gained over 1,200 retweets and 2,700 likes (shown below, right).

The spread of Twitter jokes were covered by SB Nation[3] and USA Today.[4] SB Nation also created a Twitter Moment[5] about the jokes that was featured on Twitter.
