Scott Pilgrim Yuri, also known as the Ramona and Roxie Kiss, refers to a scene in the Scott Pilgrim animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off in which the characters Ramona Flowers and Roxie Richter (or "Roxy") kiss each other and then decide that it wasn't right. The scene was likened to Yuri which is the depiction of lesbianism in manga and anime akin to shipping. The scene was widely spread on Twitter / X and Tumblr, among other social media sites, in November 2023. Fan art emerged from the trend as well as a GIF of the lesbian kiss which was shared en masse.

Origin

On November 17th, 2023, X^[1] user @pinknishii posted a scene from the then-recent Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Netflix series in which the characters Ramona and Roxie share a kiss. The user captioned the video, "SCOTT PILGRIM YURI???? HUH? WHAT THIS SCENE HELLO???" receiving over 13.9 million views and 62,000 likes in three days (shown below).

Spread

The scene quickly gained viral reactions on X, evident in a reply shared by X^[2] user @RitsuRizer on November 17th, 2023, who commented on Roxie's leg, gaining over 10,000 likes in three days (shown below, left). Also on November 17th, X^[3] user @crumbbbbly quote retweeted the post, gaining over 8,000 likes in three days (shown below, right).

References to the scene also spread on Tumblr during the same timeframe. For instance, on November 17th, 2023, Tumblr^[4] user gelarshiesprofruitboarder posted a series of images that included a Boykisser variant (shown below, left), gaining roughly 1,600 notes in three days.

On November 18th, 2023, Tumblr^[5] user demilypyro posted the scene with a humorous caption, receiving over 6,700 notes in two days (shown below, right).

Redraws of the scene also surfaced in the same timeframe, such as a "Gotham City Sirens" redraw posted by X^[6] user @spideysirens on November 18th, 2023, receiving roughly 48,000 likes in two days (shown below).
